Neues Zubehör

In einem Forum konnte ich nicht widerstehen, als dieses Tack von CharArt (Sattel und Zaum) angeboten wurde- denn ich habe das perfekte Pferd dafür.



Damit es ihm richtig passt, muss ich einen längeren Sattelgurt basteln und am Zaum eine Kleinigkeit ändern, dann ist alles perfekt. Eine Schnalle hat außerdem ihren Dorn verloren, aber auch das sollte kein Problem sein.

I couldn't resist, when I found in a forum this tack set (bridle and saddle) by CharArt offered for sale, because my Aranjuez is the perfect horse for it, even if the set is Portugese and the horse Spanish. *g*
To make it fit perfectly, he needs a longer girth and a minor adjustment to the bridle, but since I have to repair a buckle anyways (lost its tongue), this is no big deal.

Neue Sachen :)

Am Donnerstag kam schon das Paket aus der Sattlerei Gut Goldbach bei uns an.
Wie immer waren unglaublich schöne Dinge darin. :)

Mini-Maren hat nun einen unglaublich bequemen Sattel (den findet sie sogar besser als den heißgeliebten Stocksattel) und einen gebisslosen Zaum (Sidepull) für Amadeus.

Natürlich musste das neue Sattelzeug gleichmal getestet werden:

Und das Sidepull, mit schönen Flechtelementen in Natur und hell türkis.


Susanna hat auch tolle neue Kleider bekommen (unter dem gelben Top trägt sie hier allerdings noch das Poloshirt von Breyer - ist noch nicht warm genug nur mit Top *g*) und zugenommen hat sie auch. *g* Aber davon mehr in einem der nächsten Posts.

On Thursday, a parcel with new things arrived from Sattlerei Gut Goldbach and as usual, there were gorgeous new things to unpack. :)
Mini-Maren got a new super-comfy saddle and a bitless bridle (Sidepull) for Amadeus. She already likes the saddle even more than her ever favourite Stocksaddle, LOL!! The saddles is made after the real Fellsattel type, see link for one example. Example for Fellsattel
The sidepull has very beautifully braided elements in soft tones, looking great on chestnut.

And Susanna got her new clothes, too, enjoying the spring sun outdoors- she wears the longsleeved Breyer Poloshirt under the new top and jacket, though. But cardigan, top and riding jeans are brand new and look awesome on her.
Oh and she gained some weight, but that is for another post of its own.

Show-Set in Arbeit

Seit langer Zeit bin auch mal wieder damit beschäftigt etwas aus Leder zu basteln. Mein Harvest Moon bekommt nun das Show-Set, das ich im letzten Post angedacht hatte. Bisher habe ich am Gurt und Ausbindern gearbeitet.
Hier die Anfänge des Gurtes:


Dann kam mein neues Lieblingswerkzeug an- ein Lederhobel, wie praktisch! (Der Griff ist umwickelt, weil ich anscheinend allergisch auf das Metall bin)


Mit Hilfe des Hobels konnte ich die Gurtstrippen noch verfeinern und auch die Ausbinder waren kein Problem mehr.
Hier mal mit einer ausgeborgten Trense. Eine passende Trense kommt auch noch dran, wenn ich den Gurt fertig habe.

For the first time in ages I am doing something with leather now. I am making one of those show sets I mentioned in the last post for Harvest Moon.
And in between of making the surcingle, my new tool arrived. It is for skiving leather and I have no idea what the English word for it is. (I wrapped the handle because I seem to be allergic to the metal) But the tool itself is wonderful. I could already use it to refine the straps of the surcingle.
Below you see the current state of the project with a borrowed bridle. Some details left to add to the surcingle and then it is time for the bridle.

Pimp my Rug!

Schon vor einiger Zeit hatte ich eine blau-gelbe Breyer Decke gekauft, in der Hoffnung sie etwas verschönern zu können. Das habe ich nun in Angriff genommen.
Die Decke sieht im Original so aus- etwas seltsamer Schnitt und vorne und links riesige Klettverschlüsse an viel zu langen Strippen: Breyer Decke Blau-Gelb

Und nachdem ich ein bißchen daran gearbeitet habe, sieht die Decke so aus:





Was habe ich gemacht?
Die vorderen Riemen abgetrennt, alle Klettverschlüsse herausgetrennt. Dann habe ich aus der Rambo-Decke, die eh keinem Pferd passt, die Gurtverschlüsse herausgetrennt und sie an den Gurtstrippen der blauen Decke wieder befestigt, außerdem noch eine Schnalle dahinter, mit der sich, wie bei echten Decken, die Länge der Strippe an den Bauchumfang anpassen läßt.
Auf der Unterseite der Decke habe ich eine Naht ausgelassen und auf der Oberseite die Lage einer der Strippen auf der rechten Seite korrigiert und somit den Sitz der Decke etwas verbessern können.
Als letztes habe ich die Riemen, die ursprünglich vorne dran waren, zurechtgeschnitten und mit Schnallen versehen.
Ein Tip zu den Riemen- damit man damit überhaupt arbeiten kann, ohne das sie aufribbeln, habe ich die Unterseiten mit Sekundenkleber eingestrichen. Dadurch wird der Riemen fest, läßt sich sehr gut schneiden und Fäden können sich auch nicht mehr lösen.

Und dann kam heute noch ein Neuankömmling an- der muss aber erst noch in die Maske, sozusagen.

English Summary:
Today, I show a customized rug, not a horse, LOL!
Already a while ago, I got bought the blue and yellow Breyer rug in hopes of making it look more real. It is this one: Breyer rug in blue and yellow
It has a slightly weird fit and huge velcro on all ends of the ribbons. The ribbons are also waay too long and flop about uselessly under the horse.

After a while of work, I came to a pleasing result, that you can see in the pictures above. Now it looks way more real and fits better.

So what did I do to it?
I cut loose the ribbons in the front and removed all velcro most carefully from all straps. Then my useless (it fits no horse I own) Breyer Rambo Rug did a donation of metal parts, because those clasps are the only good things about it, LOL!
The clasps I reattached to the straps of the blue blanket and I also did not forget to add a buckle that now varies the length of the strap, just as on a real blanket.
On the underside of the blanket one seam was opened and on the surface the position of one strap corrected marginally- lo, immediately a better fit!
Lastly, I cut the ribbons to size that had been originally in front, attached buckles to them and reattached everything to the blanket.

A tip for working with those ribbons- to be able to work with them at all and not have them run like heck, I glued their underside and set to dry. After that, I could cut them like paper and no lose fibres threatened to ruin everything.

And then the last picture above shows a new arrival- or rather part of him... he needs to get some overhaul first, but I could not resist a sneak peek.

Neues Zubehör

Am Mittwoch kam unsere Gralskönigin vom Anpassen beim Sattler zusammen mit dem neuen Zubehör wieder zurück.
Sie hatte eine neue Trense bekommen:


Oma Lene freute sich, als sie sie in der Halle ritt, denn mit dem gut passenden Zaum war sie gleich viel rittiger:


Außerdem gab es eine Trense für Alarich:

Und Libelle bekam "ihre" Trense- ein Nachbau der richtigen Trense, die sie hatte- nur der "Goldstreifen" ist anders, aber das sah so schön aus damit...


Und dann bekamen wir noch einen neuen Dressur-Sattel, der speziell auch unseren großen Pferden gut passen sollte (und das auch tut!):






Das wunderbare Zubhör stammt von Steffi Honrath aus der Sattlerei Gut Goldbach und wie immer hat sie sich selbst übertroffen.

Dies und das

Was macht man bei 37C im Schatten, wenn man nicht schmirgeln kann (Handprobleme und auch ein bisschen heiß für Schmirgeln mit der Hand)?
Man baut eine Trense. Nach längerer Tack-Abstinenz ist die gar nicht soo schlecht geworden, wahrscheinlich würde ein bisschen Übung hier auch Wunder wirken...

Dieser Pferdetyp mit der "altmodischen" Trense macht mich grade völlig nostalgisch... *gg*

Und wenn man dann alle Zeitungen gelesen hat, die Trense ist fertig und man hat immer noch Zeit?
Dann schnappt man sich doch noch was zum Modellieren- 90% konnten am stehenden Pferd gemacht werden, und für den Rest hab ichs ganz ulkig aber unbelastend im Arm halten können.

Yeah, you make some tack. It has been a while and considering this, it came around rather nicely. I will never manage the ultra-fine sort of bridle, I was pretty crosseyed with this one already, but I think if I were not so lazy and do more of these, there is room for improvement.
I made a bridle in an "oldfashioned" style to match my "oldfashioned" horse, Grand Cru.

And then I got bored and did some more little bits of work on my OSC "Phantasm", fleshing her out, slowly. As the last piccie shows, she is already starting to practise this "am I not cute? now, where's the carrots?" kind of look. *g*

Ein OSC

Und das hier wird mal die Vollblut-Stute "Phantasm", vermutlich aus der Familie der Black Queen.
Hier habe ich angefangen ein rudimentäres Super Sculpey OSC weiterzubearbeiten. Bild-Qualität ist nicht so toll, aber ich war so angenehm von den Fortschritten überrascht, dass ich die Bilder gleich machen wollte. *g* (Zwei Einträge hier drunter sieht man wie sie vorher aussah)

This is going to be Phantasm, a Thoroughbred mare who will be most likely offspring of Black Queen's family.
Piccie quality not so great, but I was so pleasantly surprised by the progress I made on her face in a few days that I had to take the piccies at once. *g*
