Manchmal gibts den Namen auch im Zusammenhang mit einem Ereignis oder dem Wetter an dem Tag, an dem das Pferd ankam. Rimfrost ist so ein Beispiel - als ich ihn abholte, war draußen ganz viel Rauhreif.
Meine beiden OSCs haben sich hier nun sozusagen selbst benannt. *g*

starke Assoziationen zu einem Nilpferd hervorgerufen hat, hab ich mich natürlich prompt an das wohl graziöseste Nilpferd der Filmgeschichte erinnert:

Der Name der Nilpferd-Ballerina ist "Hyacinth Hippo" -voilá! So wird die Stute jetzt Hyacinth heißen .
Für das Fohlen wird dann etwas mehr um die Ecke gedacht- die Mama ist nach einer "Ballerina" benannt, der Vater heißt "Sterndeuter".
Der kleine Hengst soll "Sterntänzer" heißen - das ist der Name den sein ursprünglich geplanter Vater fast bekommen hätte. *g*

Naming model horses.
I love to give my model horses creative names. Granted, some are named after their real life example, but most of them got names that pick up their parent's names or follow a certain theme, like my Thoroughbred mares who have "spooky" or fantasy names, mostly. Occasionally, I will name a horse after a special happening or just the weather on the day it arrived. An example for this is "Rimfrost". On the day I brought him home, everything was covered in very beautiful hoarfrost.
My two OSCs in progress have just named themselves.
After getting those hippo ideas about the portray piccie above, I couldn't help remember the most graceful hippo, ever, LOL!!

Her name is "Hyacinth Hippo" - and so I can't resist to name the mare "Hyacinth" now.
For the foal's name one has to think outside the box a little.
The "Mum" is named after a "ballet-dancer" and "Dad" is called "Sterndeuter" (= "astrologer"). So the foal's name will be "Sterntänzer" (lit.: star-dancer). This was also a naming idea for the stallion that I had planned to be the sire at first, too.*g*
