English Summary:

And onward with the foal- I have now measured the length of lower arm and cannonbone on the standing frontleg and shortened and adjusted the wire to meet those measures. To make the thin "bone" of the raised leg more stable, I implanted a second wire just behind the first.
Above you see the leg first with both wires and then with a first layer of Apoxie. I have not yet begun to sculpt the joints or anything, I just want this to mend first.
And below something special. *g* That's the matter model horses are made of! *g* This is the bottom of the waterglass in which I dip my fingers when sculpting. I had forgotten to change the water and left it standing for a few days and very interesting structures began to form in there.

Also das komplette Bein abpulen.

Englisch Summary:

What's the matter when an OSC in progress suddenly looks so very smug? Yeah, right, it just found a way to make said progress even more complicated.
The stretched frontleg was not straight from front, so I was going to break the cannon bone to remedy that. (See why Apoxie OSCs are only for very patient people who do not mind to use nasty methods on their own works?)The break had its own agenda and a crack travelled up the whole inside of the leg. Now you could fix that, but it will always be an accident-prone spot, so better not. Just great, now remove the hard Apoxie of the whole leg instead. *grumble*
While I was at it, the foal "told" me that it found its standing pose very boring and would like to have a little more action. Ok, since I am at it anyway, here you go... but of course it means that I have to think about a way to support the horse now, most likely with some sort of a base. Thank you very much. *g*

The second picture above lets you have a glimpse to the insides of the OSC- the stuff on the strong wire is a thin layer of masking tape. It is really helpful when applying the Apoxie, as it sticks better to this than to the wire.

English Summary:

Finally! I can hardly count anymore how often I took this poor foal apart and pieced it together again in its creation process. But now finally I have found a pose which suits both me and the foal.
So I will now fix up the flaws and add what's missing from here. Funnily, this is almost the pose this critter started with - maybe I should have been just a bit more persistent back then. On the other hand, I learned a lot in the process, so no true complaints from me, here.

Fohlen

Dann Ende Juli nochmal:

English Summary:
When getting home from work today, I fetched my OSC foal from the closet. (It was in there for a creative pause) Shown above the early stages from last spring and summer. The result was a big overhaul of the legs. One front leg got moved and both hindlegs half removed to correct the angles in the joints by moving the wire.
I really like the back of the ears so far, LOL!! But it does start to look cute, too.

Photobucket

Menno, nur mal 5 Sekunden still halten!! Nö, heute nicht!
Photobucket

English Summary
Shanti made this lovely halter for our foals. Unfortunately, Solar Wind never knows how to behave and showed his appreciation by trying to eat the new leadrope. (Probably the teeth breaking through? XD ) Neither coaxing nor cursing got him to stand still for a picture.

And the next "ultrasound" pictures of Grand Cru's foal in the making. Starting to look vaguely horselike, especially since he has ears. I'll try to take more pictures as he progresses.

Wilde Mischung

Englisch Summary
A wild mix for a post, but you get lots of pics to look at. *g*
The carriage:
A while ago, I purchased it from a collection and my little riders were very happy- but they rightfully claimed that it would be great if they actually saw where they were driving.
So the hood was folded in (needed to cut and bend on the metal holding it up, so this is not a moving solution, but it is fixed in the new position)
Then a lack of time made me set the carriage aside - but recently, you can hear some noise in the evening - and when you check it out, you can see Otto and Carl work on their project.

The galopping white horse:
After a long time of ignoring him (and the remaining prepwork) I am now back to working on this horse. He's an Ekemen whom I customized to Thoroughbred stallion.

The gray something, vaguely horseshaped:
Grand Cru is in foal to Percy- this is her ultrasound image of the beginnings of a foal that will look a lot more lifelike in the end hopefully. *g*

Briar Rose:
This feisty little lady got a correction on her frontleg- the upper arm was lengthened and the lower arm was shortened, so the leg looks better now. The elbow needs a bit of work still...

Pasture piccie:
Our Friesian stallion (has no name yet)- as he was disturbed in tending to the lawn. *g*

English Summary:
Since I was taking pictures anyway, I can show you here all my animal OSCs on two piccies. Sculpting is so much fun!
And then I just started a new specimen. *g* This foal-to-be is already wholly different from all the rest as it has the best planned wire-skeleton so far. *g* I used the picture of a young horse to get the metal "bones" right and the joints into the right places. Then I added alufoil for chest depth and croup and wrapped it heartily with masking tape. Lastly I fixed it all with the first thin layer of Apoxie and set aside for the next burst of creativity. *g*

And one more of Nikolaus, for everyone. *lol*

Sterntänzer

Hyacinth und Sterndeuter...
Hyacinth und Sterndeuter
..sind nun frischgebackene Eltern. *g*

Hyacinth laying down

English Summary:
Hyacinth and Sterndeuter are now new parents. *g*

Some days ago, Eileen was last at the stable and made a round before she planned to leave for home. And then she saw with a start that Hyacinth was stretched out and sweating in her box - and the foaling box was not ready yet!
Eileen ran to the office where the next phone is and tried to get a hold of our Vet, Mia. It took her ages until Mia finally answered the call, apparently it was a busy evening for her, too. Eileen told her about her observations hurriedly and then ran back to Hyacinth's box.
When she arrived there, everything was over already and a longlegged bundle tumbled her way unsteadily.
Next after Mia's check up of mare and foal, they took a few pictures for the family album.
And the day after some more pictures outsdoors - and here in the open, the proud Dad could have a glimpse at his little family, too. *g*
