Löwenherz in Arbeit

Für jemanden der gerade mit Hilfe von Säge und Feile zurechtgestutzt wurde, sieht er ja ganz gut gelaunt aus...

Und nach dem Abtragen diversen Materials wiegt der Gute immer noch 680g! Und einige Stellen werden noch wieder aufmodelliert werden müssen. Noch so ein kleiner Brocken.

English Summary:
Loewenherz afer being "cut to shape" with the bigger tools. He now needs a basic sanding, then resculpting in some areas and more little details. Even after removing a lot of material in places, he is still weighing 680g!

Auch Remake-Opfer haben Spaß

... kaum dreht man sich mal fünf Minuten um, studieren die da schon ne Schaunummer ein, so siehts jedenfalls aus. *g*

Pferdeflüsterer

Da wittert doch jemand Morgenluft?


Nach Monaten im Schrank (da totale Blockade, nichts stimmte so richtig), durfte Löwenherz heute mal wieder raus. Zur Erinnerung, so hab ich ihn weggestellt:


Heute war ich dann eigentlich entschlossen den Hals abzusägen, weil an der Hals-Schulterpartie der großte Fehler lag, jedenfalls für mich. Also sägte ich erstmal den Kopf ab und als ich vorsichtig rüttelte, ob er sich schon lösen lässt, da sieht das Pferd mit gehobener Nase plötzlich ganz anders aus:


"So will ich aussehen" hat er "gesagt" und da stimme ich ihm zu. Ein bisschen habe ich schon angefangen, seine Problemzonen zu beheben und bin nun auch wieder motiviert, dass aus ihm was wird.
So "sprechen" die Modelle manchmal zu einem. Leider machen das nicht alle. *g*

When model horses "talk" to you.
Loewenherz (Lionheart) had been banned to the closet for months, because nothing was getting better, instead he was getting worse when I touched him.
So today I took him out again, eyed him and decided to saw off the neck and make a new one, as the neck/shoulder area was the worst part of him (second image).
As usual, I sawed off the head first and when I pulled on it to get it loose, there was suddenly that new pose with the raised muzzle.
"Hey," he seemed to say,"this is the way I want to look." I had to agree on this point, fixed the head in the new position and began working on his other problems with new motivation. I am pretty sure that now he will be done, sooner or later.
Like this, the model horses some times "talk" to you, but unfortunately not all of them do it. *g*

Phantasm, in Arbeit

So, heute morgen nach dem Aushärten der Verlängerung das Resultat. (Und schon wieder von schräg oben, arrgh):





Mir hilft es immer die Längenverhältnisse einzuschätzen wenn ich zum Beispiel einen Sattel auflege:

Außerdem habe ich begonnen die Einzelteile eines sehr glücklosen Pferdchens (schon zweimal um-gecustet und nie vollendet) in eine neue Form zubringen. Bilder gibts, wenn man was erkennen kann.
Ich sage nur diese "Pose" gibt es hier noch gar nicht und "alle Pferdchen fliegen hoooch". *gg*

This morning, after the setting of the added material, I took those pics above. (And again that unflattering angle, aargh) Putting a saddle on the back of an unfinished horse often helps me to better understand the lengths and widths of its body.
She now looks much better than before.

And soon there will be piccies of a new-old project, a very unfortunate horsey that got remade already twice and never finished. Now I arranged its bodyparts entirely new, LOL!! Pics will be showing up as soon as one can guess where it is going. A small hint: no other horse here has this "pose" and I have not done it before. *big grin*

Phantasm, in Arbeit

So ich hab Phantasm nun mal ordentlich "gefüttert". Nun hat sie zwar die nötige Tiefe im Brustkorb, so dass es jetzt zur Beinlänge und zum Hals passt, aber nun wird sie schon wieder zu kurz... Ca. 1cm könnte sie gut vertragen...

Now Phantasm has been fed lots of Apoxie and finally her heart girth begins to match the length of her legs and her neck, but now she is starting to get very short again. Aargh! *despair* At least one centimeter she could very well take in additional length...

EDIT:

Der Winkel ist auch nicht ganz glück, leicht schräg von oben, da sehen die Beine kürzer aus als sie sind.

Here's proof that more length is needed, a quick manipulation on the computer. Also, the shape of the neck should be redone as seen here.
The angle of the photograph is not entirely good, it is a bit from above, making her legs look shorter. Will try to avoid this in future pics.

Ein bisschen Recherche

Ich fand gestern schon, dass unser Neuer stark nach einem Porträt des unvergessenen Dressurpferds Ahlerich aussieht und hab mal ein bisschen recherchiert. Genau wissen kann ichs natürlich erst, wenn ich den Rest der Blesse und Abzeichen gesehen habe.

Already yesterday I felt strongly reminded of the dressage legend Ahlerich, when looking at the photo of our new horse. I now looked up some pics and videos and find my notion is even stronger now. I will know for sure when I have him in hand and see all of his markings.

Ein echter Glückstreffer

Durch viel Glück entdeckten wir die Verkaufsanzeige für diesen Burschen rechtzeitig, der so wunderbar in unsere Warmblut-Herde passt:

Lustigerweise ist das ein echter "Re-Import", denn er wurde vor Jahren in Hamburg "geboren" und kehrt nun aus Bayern nach Hamburg zurück.

English Summary:
We are so delighted that we saw the sales ad for this guy in time! He does fit so well into our herd of warmblood horses.
And very funny- years ago, he was "born" in Hamburg and now he returns to Hamburg all the way from Bavaria.

Ein toller Artikel...

...den ich gerade im Blog von RESS gefunden habe:

Ein anderer toller Artikel dort war dieser, der sich mit Proportionen und Anatomie befasst- beim Lesen hats bereits mehrere Male "Klick" gemacht, nur in den Fingern muss es noch ankommen.

Und wo dies gerade so ein "Theorie"-Eintrag ist- mir ist in der letzten Zeit beim Modellieren etwas aufgefallen:
Ich bin eigentlich der komplette Rechtshänder, die linke Hand ist nahezu völlig zum "Haltewerkzeug" degradiert, während die Rechte alles Andere macht.
Nun habe ich seit einer Weile ein paar Schwierigkeiten in den Sehnen und Nerven der rechten Hand und war gezwungen, Einiges buchstäblich anders "anzupacken".
Und plötzlich merke ich, dass ich mit links modelliere! Die linke Hand ist nicht so trainiert um feinste Strukturen zu meistern (logisch, brauchte sie vorher ja auch nicht), aber was ich merkte war, das die linke Hand die rechte um Längen schlägt wenn es um die Form an sich geht. Irgendwie macht die linke Hand das intuitiv und die rechte wartet auf Anweisungen vom Gehirn. (So fühlt es sich jedenfalls an)
Das neue Fohlen, zum Beispiel, ist bis auf das Gesicht bisher komplett mit links modelliert. Ich finde das richtig faszinierend!

Above I link to two very fascinating articles from the blog of RESS, one about finding your own "style" and the other about how form and anatomy are connected.
And while I am already at this theoretic post, I just had to reflect about the fascinating happening that I noticed recently while I was sculpting some, myself.
I am normally a person who favours her right hand strongly and the left hand is only allowed to hold things for example, while the other does all the detail.
Now I have had some trouble in nerves and tendons on my right hand/arm and decided to lay low some, to let the structures recover. In result, I had to break old habits and change the way I "take things in hand" quite literally.
And then I sat there, sculpting and suddenly realised that the right hand was holding and the left was sculpting! It is not as if it would be doing ingenius things, that's logical, as it never needed to do much finery before, but it is so much better at the basic shape than the other, it is pretty fascinating! It is as if the left one does everything instinctively, while the other is asking for approval through brain and reason all the time...
The little foal from two posts ago is an example of this- except for the face, it is so far completely done by my left hand.

Wenn man vor Hitze nicht schlafen kann, kommt man auf die lustigsten Ideen. Diese war nun von einem Artikel über das Wiegen von echten Pferden inspiriert.
Ich hatte ja eh schon den Verdacht, dass die liebe Merolanna zusammen mit Sea Star nicht ganz unschuldig an meinen lahmen Armen sein wird, aber nun im Vergleich, hab ich sogar den objektiven Beweis. *g*

Diese Szene hat sich zufällig im Regal ergeben und ich fand das so niedlich wie das halbfertige Fohlen den Großen "anhimmelt".

Das sich Modellpferde gerne schnell vermehren ist ja nichts Neues- aber das man nun auch noch auf die Unfertigen aufpassen muss, DAS war mir neu. *lol*
Hier Phantasm mit "Ableger" und der vermutete Erzeuger im Hintergrund... so selbstzufrieden wie der guckt, kann es ja nur er gewesen sein...

It's no secret that the size of model horse herds does multiply fast enough to make you think they spawn of their own.
Here's a new one, though- now even the *unfinished* ones do the multiplying thing! Pictured above is Phantasm, still very much in progress, with her new "spawn", also in progress and that smug looking (unfinished)stallion in the background is quite possibly proud of his "achievement"...

Dies und das

Was macht man bei 37C im Schatten, wenn man nicht schmirgeln kann (Handprobleme und auch ein bisschen heiß für Schmirgeln mit der Hand)?
Man baut eine Trense. Nach längerer Tack-Abstinenz ist die gar nicht soo schlecht geworden, wahrscheinlich würde ein bisschen Übung hier auch Wunder wirken...

Dieser Pferdetyp mit der "altmodischen" Trense macht mich grade völlig nostalgisch... *gg*

Und wenn man dann alle Zeitungen gelesen hat, die Trense ist fertig und man hat immer noch Zeit?
Dann schnappt man sich doch noch was zum Modellieren- 90% konnten am stehenden Pferd gemacht werden, und für den Rest hab ichs ganz ulkig aber unbelastend im Arm halten können.

Yeah, you make some tack. It has been a while and considering this, it came around rather nicely. I will never manage the ultra-fine sort of bridle, I was pretty crosseyed with this one already, but I think if I were not so lazy and do more of these, there is room for improvement.
I made a bridle in an "oldfashioned" style to match my "oldfashioned" horse, Grand Cru.

And then I got bored and did some more little bits of work on my OSC "Phantasm", fleshing her out, slowly. As the last piccie shows, she is already starting to practise this "am I not cute? now, where's the carrots?" kind of look. *g*
